หลังจากที่เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจมินนิอาโปลิสจับกุม “จอร์จ ฟลอยด์” ชายผิวดำวัย 46 ปี และกดคอของเขาด้วยเข่าจนเสียชีวิต การประท้วงครั้งใหญ่ทั่วสหรัฐอเมริกาก็ปะทุขึ้น เพื่อเรียกร้องความยุติธรรมให้กับฟลอยด์ นำไปสู่การจลาจลและการปล้นสะดมร้านค้าต่างๆ ในมินนิอาโปลิสและเซนต์ปอล ส่งผลให้บรรดาธุรกิจได้รับความเสียหายจากเหตุรุนแรงที่กินเวลานานถึง 4 วัน
แต่แม้ว่าจะเกิดความเสียหาย เจ้าของธุรกิจเหล่านี้ก็ยังคงส่งเสียงสนับสนุนผู้ประท้วงในรูปแบบต่างๆ รูเฮล อิสลาม ชาวบังกลาเทศ เจ้าของร้านอาหาร Gandhi Mahal สูญเสียร้านอาหารของเขาที่ดำเนินกิจการมานานถึง 13 ปี ในการประท้วงครั้งนี้ เมื่อเขาได้ทราบว่าร้านของเขาถูกเผา เขาพูดเพียงว่า “ปล่อยให้ร้านไหม้ไปเถอะ ความยุติธรรมต้องมีสิ่งแลกเปลี่ยน และเจ้าหน้าที่พวกนั้นก็ต้องติดคุก”
